Rajshahi, which, during the medieval times, was called “Rampur Boalia” or “Beuleah”, is situated in the north-west part of Bangladesh. Prior to the partition Rajshahi was a part of the Pundru region and is now one of the 6 metropolitan cities of the country. Rajshahi which, according to the year 2006 survey of the London School of Economics, is ‘the happiest city of the world’, has a population of over 700,000. The majority of the population is Muslims, though a number of people of other religions, including Hindus, Buddhists and Christians also live here.
Rajshahi, the ‘education city’, is also one of the major centers of education in Bangladesh, where students from all over the country flock together for education. Some of its most well known education centers include Rajshahi University, Rajshahi Medical College, Rajshahi University of Enignieering and Technology, Rajshahi College, etc.
